Fabric & Sustainability
Did you know that every Cue style starts with the fabric? We carefully select our fabrics with our design team who work their magic to create the garments you love.
Cue has a long history of collaborating with the world’s best textile mills. Many of which are based in Europe and have a long heritage of traditional textile manufacturing, now paired with modern technology and a focus on sustainability.
At Cue we recognise that textile and fashion manufacturing have an environmental footprint. It’s our job to make that footprint as small as possible.
A few seasons ago we started our journey to a more sustainable fashion future, as we re-use, source and develop more responsible fabrics and trims. Many of our current fabrics have sustainable attributes which can be found on our garment care labels in-store and product descriptions on our website.
Here are some of the sustainability attributes we are proud to have across our range:
- Ethical Clothing Australia accreditation for our Australian made styles
- Responsible Wool Standard certified wool
- Organic cotton
- Global Recycling Standard certified polyester and wool
- Forest Stewardship Council certified viscose
- Increased natural fibres including lyocell, tencel and linen
- Oxo-biodegradable poly bag packaging used on all shipments from our offshore manufacturers
- Compostable packaging used to ship our online customer orders – launching soon
Who are our fabric partners?
Manteco are our largest supplier of woollen fabric, and also offer sustainable viscose and cotton fabrics. Manteco provide circular economic solutions to waste – predominately in the manufacturing of recycled wool. Through mechanical processes and without the use of any chemicals, Manteco extract the fibre from old garments/blankets and re-spin it into new yarn. Recycled wool supports the circular economy through the reduction of water, energy and CO2 emissions. Manteco were awarded with the Radical Green Prize by the Italian Prime Minister in 2018. Visit the Manteco website to learn more about their impressive practices.
Can Tekstil is one of our largest international fabric suppliers. Offering multiple sustainable and ethical initiatives, Can Tekstil is OEKO-TEX certified and produce qualities with Global Recycling Standard (GRS), Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified yarns. We are proud to offer Can Tekstil fabrics – to read more about their extensive sustainability policies visit Can Tekstil.
Like Cue, Deveaux has been a family-owned mill since its inception in 1830 and is proud to be officially recognised as a French Living Heritage Company. We’ve been fortunate to work with the team for many years, expanding our relationship in 2020 when Deveaux partnered with one of our key print studios. Additional to their excellent mill techniques, Deveaux are Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certified for their recycled fabrications and both their dyeing and printing facilities are OEKO-TEX certified. Furthermore, Deveaux was the first textile group to receive the OEKE-TEX STEP certification which audits not only chemical output but water and air pollution, energy consumption, waste processing and social responsibility.
